The other weekend I headed to Indiana for a dear friend's wedding. Well, I knew that a set of mixing bowls was out of the question because they simply would not fit in my carry on. And then saw these beautiful
tea towels at anthro. I loved them. I thought that they would be a wonderful wedding present and they had a romance theme! But then I thought: I could make that! And I could make it better because I could personalize them!
Now, at the risk of sounding like I am 80 years old, I have been getting back into embroidery and needlepoint. (wait, I just might be 80 years old...I sit with my roommate's cat, and do needlepoint and head to bed around 10:30pm, all while spying on my neighbor's and their new baby.) I used to do embroidery when I was elementary aged with my mother and grandmother (my grandmother, who really is 80 some years old and diligently spies on her neighbors and gives a daily report to my mother), but then you know, I started finding less "old" hobbies. But! I recently rediscovered that embroidery and needlepoint don't have to be old! It can be fun and modern and chic!

Well, I was pleased as punch with the way the tea towels turned out. I love birds and birch trees and bunting flags, and I knew Sarah's colors were plumy-eggplant-purple and a lemony-canary-yellow, so I tried to incorporate those two colors in frequently. I just might have to make more tea towels, I want a set for myself!
Congrats to the beautiful newlyweds!
